Community Outreach

Interested in the ethics of food and the environment? The connection between stress and cheating? The crisis of mass incarceration that is currently facing our nation? We invite you to join us at our many events!

Aimed with the belief that ethics is not only a set of ideas but also a practice, we sponsor practical activities ranging from talks, panel discussions, to ongoing involvements in community partnerships. We are very proud of our long-standing partnership with Hope House Scholars Program, now in its 12th year.

The Center has also worked with local high schools. Associate Director Joan Berry was an active member of the Palo Alto Unified School District's Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgendered, Queer and Questioning committee. This committee represents this population within the Palo Alto Unified School District, and advocates for their recognition, rights and needs. Also, Center staff joined more than 25 teachers from Gunn High School to develop an “ethical framework to engender success in their high school.” Center Associate Director Joan Berry was also a member of Gunn High School's Stressed Out Students Committee.

The Center is always interested in partnering with local organizations to explore issues of justice and injustice, tolerance and respect, right and wrong, citizenship and community. To suggest an organization/collaboration, email Joan Berry.
