Susan Frayne Receives Boston University Distinguished Alumni Awards

Susan FrayneSusan Frayne, MD, MPH eceived her undergraduate training from Pomona College and her MD from University of California, San Diego.  She completed her residency (Internal Medicine) at the University of California, Irvine, and a Fellowship in General Internal Medicine and MPH degree from Boston University.  She is a member of VA Palo Alto’s Center for Health Care Evaluation, a VA HSR&D Center of Excellence, where she is Associate Professor of Medicine at Stanford University, and is Associate Director of the Women’s Health Center at VA Palo Alto. 

She directs the VA Women’s Health Evaluation Initiative, which analyzes women’s health care delivery data for VA’s national women Veterans program, to inform national program development and policy decisions.  She also directs the VA Women’s Health Practice-Based Research Network, which provides research infrastructure for multi-site women’s health research in VA. 

  Dr. Frayne’s research examines the interface of medicine and mental health, examining strategies that promote delivery of high quality, integrated medical care for patients with mental illness who present to the primary care setting, with a special focus on women who have post-traumatic stress disorder caused by prior exposure to violence.
