Welcome to the School of Medicine Human Resources Group (HRG) web site. Under the direction of the Dean, our office provides human resources advice, information, training and resources in support of the School of Medicine's mission of excellence and innovation in education, patient care and research. Working closely with the School's 28 academic departments and 10 administrative units, our purpose is to provide leadership in creating and maintaining a work environment that attracts, develops, rewards and retains a talented, productive and diversified workforce. Our direct services focus on staff compensation, employment, employee relations, training and organizational development. We hope our web site provides you with quick and easy access to information in the human resources areas that are important to you!

An important part of the culture at the School of Medicine is respecting each individual and his/her contribution to the success of the School.  The way in which we treat each other is as important as the outcome of our work.  In keeping with this, the following is the policy of the School of Medicine:  Statement on the Respectful Workplace (§10.15 SOM Faculty Handbook)

Our Commitment

"Stanford University School of Medicine is committed to  providing a work environment that is conducive to teaching and learning, research, the practice of medicine and patient care.  Stanford's special purposes in this regard depend on a shared commitment among all members of the community to respect each person's worth and dignity.  Because of their roles within the School of Medicine, faculty members, in particular, are expected to treat all members of the Stanford community with civility, respect and courtesy and with an awareness of the potential impact of their behavior on staff, students and other faculty members."
