Dr. Soltesz joined the department as a Professor of Neurosurgery and by courtesy of Neurology and Neurological Sciences. His lab is working to discover new therapies in the treatment and prevention of epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, and autism. Dr. Soltesz comes to Stanford from the University of California at Irvine.

Congratulations to Dr. Odette Harris, the new Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Rehabilitation at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS).

Dr. Harris has been the ACOS for Polytrauma at VAPAHCS since January 12, 2009. In her new role as the ACOS for Rehabilita-tion, Dr. Harris will be responsible for aligning the care and strategic missions of Spinal Cord Injury, Polytrauma, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the Western Blind Rehabilitation Center.

Dr. Burns' research seeks to understand the behavior of endogenous, transplanted and tumor stem cells in the healthy and diseased brain in order to facilitate the development of therapies for brain tumors, neurodegeneration and CNS injury.
