Elam now 'directing' Stanford's undergraduate education

Drama Professor Harry Elam began his career at the Farm in 1989, when he accepted a visiting teaching position in the Drama Department. Two decades later, he is the new Freeman-Thornton Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education.

Freshman move-in day is Tuesday; doors open at 8 a.m.

Carting their belongings, new undergraduate students will arrive on campus tomorrow, beginning at 8 a.m. New Student Orientation, which runs from Sept. 14 to 19, expects 1,675 freshmen and 20 transfer students.

Feedback sought on proposed Marguerite route changes

Parking & Transportation Services has proposed making significant changes to three Marguerite shuttle bus lines — Line A, Line B and the Midnight Express Line. They want to know what faculty and staff think about the proposed changes. Let them know by Sept. 30.

  • AlertSU improvements: The Office of Emergency Management has improved the AlertSU notification system: Emeriti and affiliates can now opt into the system to receive emergency notifications; faculty, staff, emeriti and affiliates can opt their personal phone numbers out of AlertSU while leaving them listed in the Stanford directory; and faculty, staff, emeriti and affiliates can now enter a second email address. Visit https://stanfordyou.stanford.edu to take advantage of the enhancements and to update your information. The next test of AlertSU will be Oct. 7, during a university-wide emergency drill.
