Stanford lands NIH research grants for creative scientists

Three Stanford researchers have been chosen by the National Institutes of Health as winners of this year's New Innovator Awards. The NIH also has awarded grants, known as the Transformative R01 Awards, to two Medical School research projects that will explore innovative, high-risk ideas.

GSB students as avatars experiment with virtual world

This fall, during a one-week course, a group of Stanford MBA students met online in a virtual classroom — using computer-generated avatars as facsimiles of themselves — to hammer out a business plan and present it to a group of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.
