Obtaining El Capitan
OS X version 10.11, nicknamed El Capitan, is scheduled for release on September 30, 2015. As with previous releases the software is available for download at the Mac App Store. The update to 10.11 is free.

Software compatibility
You are encouraged to read this section in full to make sure the software you need to use is compatible with El Capitan before upgrading. This section will be updated frequently, so please check back often in the first few weeks following El Capitan's release. See the RoaringApps site for a longer list of applications.
