Title IX Office
Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex (gender) in educational programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Stanford University is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination on the basis of sex (gender), including sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual assault, relationship (dating and domestic) violence, and stalking (collectively, “Prohibited Sexual Conduct”). The University provides resources and reporting options to students, faculty, and staff to address concerns related to sexual harassment and sexual violence prohibited by Title IX and University policy. The University urges any individual who has been subjected to Prohibited Sexual Conduct to make an official report to the Title IX Office and, where appropriate, the University’s Department of Public Safety.
The primary function of the Title IX Office is to investigate and resolve student-related Title IX concerns. The Office facilitates and monitors interim measures and permanent remedies. The Office staff provide training and education in this area to students, faculty, and staff.
