Program Overview
With funding from the Office of the Provost, the Stanford Undergraduate STEM Fellows Program provides support to students who will promote the diversity (broadly defined) of the future professoriate. The program is designed to address the educational consequences of gender, racial, ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in higher education, and will seek to increase the number of PhDs earned by under-represented groups in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.

Eligibility Criteria
- U.S. Citizenship
- Currently enrolled high achieving Stanford Sophomore with at least a 3.2 GPA.
- Interest in scholarly research or teaching career in the university.
- Intention to enroll in a Ph.D. program in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field.
- Would contribute to increasing the diversity (racial, ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic status) of the STEM professoriate.
Application Process and Deadlines
- By early December, applicants must complete an Online Application, including two essays.
- A selection committee composed of faculty and staff will review applications, invite the strongest applicants for interviews, and select the final cohort of STEM Fellows by Winter Quarter.
- Applications for 2015 are open Autumn Quarter and due December 7, 2015 by noon.

The Stanford Undergraduate STEM Fellows Program seeks nominations from faculty, staff, and administrators to identify promising scholars. If you would like to nominate someone for this program, please send an email to stemfellows@stanford.edu with the name of the student and a brief rationale for the nomination by December 7, 2015.
