The California Energy Commission, in partnership with the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) and Stanford University's Bill Lane Center for the American West and the Precourt Institute for Energy, is pleased to announce a trade mission to Mexico City and Monterrey, Mexico, from Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4, 2015.

This trade mission will build on relationships developed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. during his 2014 trade mission to Mexico and further implement the Memorandum of Understanding between Governor Brown and Mexican Secretary of Energy, Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, to accelerate clean energy investment and development in Mexico and California and strengthen cooperation in addressing global climate change.

Highlights of this trade mission will include education and dialogue on:

  • The status of Mexico's comprehensive energy reforms by key Mexican agencies;
  • The development of a regulatory framework for Mexico's evolving clean energy sector;
  • Investment opportunities in clean technology and infrastructure;
  • Clean energy research and development opportunities in Mexico; and
  • Strategies to address environmental concerns.

This trade mission presents a unique opportunity to exchange information on clean energy technologies, strategies, and policies that are being explored and implemented in California and Mexico. Participants will have an opportunity to explore investment opportunities in Mexico's emerging energy markets and meet key regulators, policy makers, non-governmental organizations, academics, and businesses shaping these markets.
