School Improvement Grant

The SIG provides funding to help local educational agencies (LEAs) address the needs of schools in improvement, corrective action, and restructuring to improve student achievement. SIG funds are to be used to leverage change and improve technical assistance through LEAs targeting activities towards measurable outcomes. Expected results from the use of these funds include improving student proficiency, increasing the numbers of schools that make adequate yearly progress, using data to inform decisions, and creating a system of continuous feedback and improvement.

Budget Revision Requests

If a budget adjustment results in a shift of funds in any object code series (i.e. 1000, 2000, etc.) of more than 10%, the LEA must submit the proposed revision to the CDE for approval. Revision requests will only be approved if the new use for the money still targets the same need and the revision does not compromise the LEA's ability to implement any required element of the selected model(s).

Budget Revision Request Form (XLS; 68KB; 2pp.)

Programmatic Revision Requests

Programmatic changes that do not inhibit the LEA’s ability to fully and effectively implement all required components of the selected intervention model will be considered as long as the change targets the same need(s). Submit a cover letter that describes the proposed programmatic change(s) including any effect that the change will have on the LEA and/or school budgets and explain why the change is needed and how the change will still support the approved intervention plan. If this revision will result in a shift of funds in any object code series of more than 10 percent, the LEA must also submit a Budget Revision Request Form.

Expenditure Reports will be due December 30, 2010. The form will be available in the California Accountability & Improvement System (CAIS). (Outside Source)
