Each year, Stanford MBA students initiate and lead large-scale events that enhance the academic experience and build community within the MBA Program and throughout the extended Stanford GSB network.

Asia Business Student Association Gala

On January 23, the Asian Business Student Association (ABSA) at Stanford GSB hosted its inaugural gala. The event celebrated the diversity of the greater Asian community and encouraged leadership in business with both Asian and non-Asian peers and alumni. Dennis Yang, MBA ’02, CEO of Udemy, shared his insights in a fireside chat.

Black Business Student Association Gala

The Black Business Student Association (BBSA) will host the 33rd Annual BBSA Gala on January 30. This year’s theme is “Empowered: Unlocking Our Potential,” and will serve as a kickoff to Black History Month. Kenneth L. Coleman, chairman, Saama Technologies, will deliver the keynote address. Additionally, the Tapestry Award will recognize an alumnus or alumna who has shown inspirational leadership, intellectual excellence, and service to others through his or her professional and personal life. BBSA works closely with the GSB Black Alumni Chapter to serve as a support network for black MBA, MSx, and PhD students at Stanford GSB.

Hispanic Business Student Association’s Latino Leadership Banquet

The Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) hosts an annual banquet to celebrate the history and presence of the Latino community at Stanford GSB. This special occasion brings alumni — especially members of the GSB Hispanic Alumni Chapter — together with current students in order to foster personal bonds critical to the success of our community. Additionally, the Jerry I. Porras Latino Leadership Award is given to a Stanford GSB alumnus who has made a significant contribution to the business and Latino communities, and to honor and encourage leadership in business as well as in the great Latino community. This year’s celebration is scheduled for Saturday, March 5.

Military Service Appreciation Dinner

The Stanford GSB Veterans Club organizes an annual dinner where the Military Service Appreciation Award is given in recognition of a person who has served in the military, has an extraordinary track record of leadership, and is an example of outstanding achievement in business or business education. The next event is scheduled for May 4. All alumni who are either U.S. and international military veterans are invited to the join the GSB Military Veterans online group.
