Seed is awarding research funds to Stanford faculty and PhD students from across the university to advance fundamental knowledge about entrepreneurship, innovation, and the growth of firms in developing economies.

Discovery Awards

Discovery awards offer funding for faculty-led activities (e.g., events, working groups, study trips, and training sessions) intended to stimulate the discovery of novel research ideas.

Stanford Global Development and Poverty (GDP) Initiative

GDP is a universitywide research initiative of Seed in partnership with the Freeman Spogli Institute. GDP funds multiyear awards to launch promising new research with the potential for scalable, sustainable impact on those living in poverty worldwide.

Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Developing Economies Awards (I-Awards)

I-Awards fund faculty who are pursuing small- or large-scale projects, PhD​ candidates during the implementation phase of a dissertation project, and PhD fellowships during the writing phase of a dissertation project.
