Church of the Redeemer Proposed Hall and School Project
The Church of the Redeemer is located at 380 Magdalena Avenue, on the southeast side of Magdalena Avenue between Magdalena Avenue and Interstate 280. The property is currently under the jurisdiction of Santa Clara County, and is within the Urban Service Area of the City of Los Altos.
This application is to modify an existing Use Permit and Architectural and Site Approval to expand the church facilities of the Los Altos Antiochian Orthodox Church of the Holy Redeemer. The proposal includes a new two story fellowship hall (17,634 sq. ft.) that will include space for assembly, administrative offices, classrooms, and kitchen. The existing one story hall (1,636 sq. ft.), and one story office with Sunday school classrooms building (2,527 sq. ft.) would be demolished. The existing church building will remain on-site along with the existing 91 parking spaces. The K-8 grade school would operate on weekdays with a maximum occupancy of 81 students and 22 staff members. Proposed grading quantities include 2069 cubic yards of cut and 272 cubic yards of fill. The requested modification would also allow an annual weekend food festival that is currently authorized under entertainment event permits that are filed each year.
