Rediscover the Bay in South Bay
The first Alviso Boat Tour launched on Friday, May 29, from the dock of Alviso Marina County Park to kick off a new program aimed at showcasing Santa Clara County's gateway to the Bay. You can call it a floating classroom for guests who will travel past the salt marshes alongside the Alviso Slough out to where Coyote Creek meets the open waters of San Francisco Bay.
The boat tour also features a land tour guided by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff. The tour is available from April to September. Specific tour times are subject to the tide schedule. The Alviso Marina County Park is also the first site on the
San Francisco Bay Water Trail.
Creating a pilot tourism program that offers boat trips around the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge was a promise Board President Dave Cortese made at his January State of the County event. The boat tour is a collaboration of Supervisor Cortese’s Office, the Sheriff’s Department, the County Parks and Recreation Department and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
