Bionic pancreas improves glycemic control in children Healio 2/5/16. According to research in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, children with type 1 diabetes assigned to a bihormonal bionic pancreas system for 5 days while attending a diabetes camp saw reduced plasma glucose concentrations, fewer hypoglycemic episodes and lower frequency of carbohydrate interventions than children assigned insulin pump therapy. Super Bowl week brought unexpected excitement for a big Denver Broncos fan at the hospital. Oncology and heart transplant patient Alex Walter, 18, was featured on our Facebook page as a superfan, calling out to the Broncos to fulfill his wish to meet a player. A day later, ex-Niner and now Bronco tight end Vernon Davis surprised Alex at the hospital school. Later in the week Davis reached out to the hospital again. This time, he had news that Levi’s Stadium was giving Alex tickets to SB50.
