Co-Chairs

Annie Phan

Annie Phan

Year: 2016

Major: English and Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity

Hometown: Albuquerque, NM

About Me: she/her. I ask a lot of questions, eat a lot of food, and drink a lot of boba! I’m deeply passionate about education, social justice, leadership/community building, and words, but I love talking about just about everything so feel free to start anywhere with a conversation and surprise me. The API community at Stanford has been a home for me since I first stepped on campus, and as a senior and co-chair I hope to sustain the community that AASA and others have created for us. I hope we can connect this year and that together we’ll find new ways to define community and solidarity.

Mark Flores

Mark Flores

About Me: "Hi everyone! My name's Mark and I'm a senior from Honolulu, Hawaii. I'm studying English, Human Biology, and Sociology, and in addition to being AASA co-chair, I'm one of the lucky Okada staff members! I like to read manga and watch anime in my free time, along with reading productivity blogs, poetry, and anything on facebook. Right now, I'm working on an poetry honors project exploring the concept of burial in Chinese American history, and would love if you asked me about it.

If you're interested in working together or hanging out, please know my MBTI is INFP, I identify as a Hufflepuff, and my zodiac animals are the wood dog and Cancer the Crab."

Financial Officer

Webmaster

Jason Li

Jason Li

About Me: Hey y'all! I'm Jason, and I'll be serving as AASA's Financial Officer. This year, I'm so excited to explore the diversity of the API community and understand and advocate for its often silenced issues. Outside of AASA, you can find me juggling an unhealthy amount of academic interests, curling up fetal style to short stories and good coffee, and scheduling "Exercise" into Google Calendar but never following through. If you're reading this, please don't hesitate to reach out -- I would love to get to know you!

Wendy Li

Wendy Li

Major: Electrical Engineering

Secondary Major: Computer Science

Interests: I'm an avid fan of too many tv shows to count. I also like to draw and paint in my spare time as well as do an assortment of arts and crafts.

About Me: Wendy would like to say that she has nothing to say besides rabbits and dogs are cute QnQ and she needs to get back to EE 108 lab.

Listen to the Silence Co-Chair

Bradley Wo

Bradley Wo

Year: Class of 2017

Major: Science, Technology, and Society, minoring in Mechanical Engineering

Hometown: Honolulu, Hawaii

Great loves: boba, good food, breakup songs and power ballads, people who are passionate about things they love

About Me: Hello everyone! I'm Bradley. I am an optimistic realist who prizes efficiency but delights in the small things. I truly love being from Hawaii and am appreciative for the open, accepting culture that I was raised in. Upon arriving at Stanford, I was forced to understand the reality of being an Asian American on the mainland. For this reason, I am so honored to be the AASA co-chair for the Listen to the Silence Conference and to continue addressing important issues within the API community alongside people who continuously help me to question, learn, and grow.

Dee Dee Thao

Dee Dee Thao

Year: Class of 2018

Major: Economics

Hometown: Fresno, California

Interests: Korean dramas, badminton, sushi, ice cream, Journey to the West: Conquering Demons (the best move evarr)

About Me: Hi everyone, my name is Dee Dee. I'm on AASA Core because there's a lot of cruel stuff out there that many people don't think is such a big deal, but the microaggressions caused by this passivity are real, long-lasting, and hurtful. I'm Hmong, I almost died while longboarding downhill, I went to South Korea this past summer (ask me about it!), and I I like people who are nice. If you're mean to me, I'll sing "Why can't weee be friends, why can't we be friendssss." :( I also like to cry over Korean dramas, so please come talk to me about them.

Co Tran

Co Tran

Dorm: Okada (for the third year in a row!)

Great loves: porches, chai tea, tender friendship, reality TV…

About Me: Hi I'm Co! In spite of (and because of) all that’s happening right now, I believe that a different world is possible -- a just and fully humanizing world built for Black, Brown, and Yellow folks; queer and trans people of color; and the working class. I also believe in the great strength that arises from solidarity. This is where I want to center my work this year. And I’m always down to talk and eat together, so let’s hang!

Joseph Lee

Hi I'm Joseph! I use different names depending on context. Sometimes I'm Jo or Joseph or Joe or Jojo. You can choose what you feel is best for you. I have many mixed feelings about society and humanity, but I do believe that insurgent social movements are fundamental to social change. I hope to build a world that allows black, brown, yellow queer and trans people to thrive. Personally, I am in love with API Queer people and communities: idk why but I think the community, her/history, and interdependence of API Queer/Trans Folx is beautiful and wondrous. I also have a passion for tiger suits and tiger training. Sometimes, I live in the forests of zimbwabe dressed as a tiger to gain the trusts of the local tigers.

I am a junior majoring in Human Biology with a concentration in Community Health Interventions for Migrant and Minority Populations, and I turn into an excited nerd when talking about public health and health care. I am also a member of the Pilipino American Student Union on campus and am a Resident Assistant in Okada, so you already know I'm pretty immersed in the API community plus always down to learn more and grow more! My hobbies include making ugly puns, (talking about) working out, eating churros and/or sushi, and dancing in multiple forms. Benjamin Chadwick

Year: Class of 2019

Homewtown: Pasadena, CA

About Me: Hi everyone! I'm Ben, one of AASA's new frosh interns this year. I prefer spending all of my time either listening to music or talking to people. I also spent basically my whole life growing up in SoCal, which I'm extremely fond of. Don't ask me what I want to study because I ask myself that everyday... All I know is that I'm taking science and music classes this year, and I'll somehow make that work.

Eric Lin

Eric Lin

Year: Class of 2019

About Me: Hi Everyone! My name is Eric Lin, and I am absolutely thrilled to be an AASA frosh intern this year! I was born in St. Louis, Missouri, but I lived in Arizona most of my life. I love to play the piano and cello, focusing on classical music because I find so much depth and beauty within each song. I also love playing Go, following E-sports, listening to 2NE1, pigging out on good food, and exercising. For academics, I am interested in majoring in biochemistry and running that fun pre-med track. I am looking forward to exploring and learning more about all Asian cultures, and I plan to help find solutions to API issues. You can usually find me studying at FroSoCo, drinking coffee at CoHo, longboarding around campus, and running campus drive around midnight throughout the week. Though I am busy most of the time, I am always down to meet up and hang out.

I grew up in the Bay Area, but I've spent the past six years living in Taiwan, so I embody Asian-American in every sense of the term. For the past few years I've been very passionate about Asian American body image issues and beauty standards as well as API representation in the media, but I'm looking forward to learning more as this year progresses. I love linguistics and poetry and creative writing, so if you ever want to build syntax diagrams out of Emily Dickinson poetry or something, I'm your girl. At any given time there is a 70% chance I am eating. The other 30% of the time, please offer me food :)
