Stanford Club of Nigeria

We received several ideas for the Stanford Beyond the Farm project – thanks to all who gave suggestions – but narrowed them down to one: Working with the Wesley School for the Deaf, Surulere, Lagos (Thanks Mrs Adenubi!). Our objective was to select a project that could provide us with an opportunity to make a sustainable difference. We also wanted to work with an educational institution and be able to contribute in a variety of ways – with our brains, brawn and money!
Originally designed to accommodate 80 pupils, Wesley School for the Deaf was established in 1957, and has since grown to over 400.

We are proposing 3 streams of activity

1) Speed strategy session with senior leadership: to help school leadership prepare a medium term strategic plan. (2) Career discussion session with students:  sharing academic/vocational opportunities and ways to prepare to capitalize on them. (3) Garden planting, Games, Arts&Crafts with students

So we encourage alums & families to come out on May 14^th to make an impact in this deserving community.
