Cardinal Service is an important part of Stanford's mission to benefit our region, country, and world. Community partners benefit from the expertise of graduate students, and engaging with the community to tackle societal problems benefits students academically, personally, and professionally.

While many Cardinal Service programs are aimed at undergraduate students, there are many other public service opportunities open to graduate students, including community-based research opportunities, project funding, courses, and student service organizations.

Support for your public service

Workshops

The Haas Center for Public Service offers a workshop series for Stanford graduate students interested in exploring both academic (tenure-line) and alternative academic career paths with a focus on community-engaged research. Sessions are held over lunch on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons. Contact Joanne Tien for more information.
