Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies (POLS)

The Master of Arts program in Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies draws upon an integrated knowledge base and the expertise of renowned faculty to provide students with a foundation in the core areas of policy, organization and leadership, teaching and learning, and inquiry and assessment. It also gives students the flexibility to explore other relevant themes such as instructional leadership, cultural diversity and language acquisition, learning theory, youth development, and school reform.

A rigorous nine-month, full-time on-campus program, POLS focuses on the skills and knowledge necessary for effective leadership in a variety of educational environments. Students transform what they learn into their capstone POLS Project focused on an educational challenge of personal significance.

In addition, POLS students interested in education policy, who seek to further develop their analytic and policy analysis skills, may apply to pursue the two-year joint degree with the Public Policy Program (MA/MPP).
