Admission

The Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP) is a nationally renowned 12-month full time program preparing future teacher leaders at the elementary and secondary levels. STEP integrates a world-class academic program with a well-supported, yearlong classroom placement.

Candidates can apply to one of the following areas:

  • Elementary Education
  • Secondary Education
    • Teaching of English
    • Teaching of History/Social Science
    • Teaching of Math
    • Teaching of Science (biology, chemistry, earth science or physics)
    • Teaching of World Languages (Spanish, Mandarin, French, German or Japanese)

Upon completion, graduates receive a Master of Arts in Education from Stanford University and a preliminary California multiple or single subject credential.

The online application for the Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP) is now closed.

Decision letters will go out electronically to all applicants. Doctoral candidates can expect to hear back by mid February, followed by STEP candidates in late February. Non STEP MA candidates will hear back from the GSE in early March.
