Emilee Chapman

Assistant Professor of Political Science

Emilee Chapman is Assistant Professor of Political Science

Emilee is an Assistant Professor of Political Science.  Her research examines how normative conceptions of democracy and shared public values sustain and shape democratic practices, and how, in turn, the experiences of ordinary citizens and the realities of existing democracies should influence our understanding of the ethics of citizenship and political leadership.  Emilee's current book project, "Voting Matters: A Critical Examination and Defense of Democracy's Central Practice" develops an original account of the distinctive role that voting plays in contemporary democratic citizenship and explores the practical implications of this account for electoral reform and the ethics of participation.
