Priya Fielding-Singh

PhD student in Sociology

Priya Fielding-Singh is a doctoral candidate in the Sociology Department at Stanford, where she studies contemporary social movements and collective action. Her research focuses on individuals' experiences within movements and how those experiences shape their long-term beliefs and behaviors. Drawing on a variety of methods—from longitudinal surveys to life-history interviews – she investigates what compels people to partake in personal and collective action on behalf of their beliefs. Her research interests are motivated by a desire to understand, on a much broader level, how to build movements and engage greater numbers of people in pro-social causes.
