About

The Stanford Center for Population Research supports research and training in population studies. Its researchers study the complex processes connected with the size, distribution, and composition of human populations, focusing on:

  •  formal demography
  •  biodemography, including genetics and life histories
  •  economic demography
  •  human evolution
  •  cultural and intergenerational processes
  •  mortality and international health

Activities & Resources

The Center supports this research by:

  • offering seed grants to Stanford faculty for demographic research
  • supporting collaborations between social scientists and biological scientists
  • sponsoring conferences, workshops, research networks, and special data collections
  • fostering collaborations between Stanford researchers and researchers at other institutions
