What is GIS?
A geographic information system (GIS) is a system designed to capture, store, analyze, and manage spatial or geographical data.
GIS at Stanford
The Stanford Geospatial Center, housed in the Branner Earth Sciences Library, is the center for GIS and geospatial training and support for campus. More information for GIS instruction, consultations, and access to GIS data and software (including Stanford licensed packages such as ArcGIS and CartoDB) can be found at their site.

- Policy Map Policy Map is a web-based mapping service that allows you to easily create custom maps, tables, and charts. It is a for-fee system and allows access to numerous proprietary data sources.
