New Mapping Technology Helps Target Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation
09.09.2015
Atrial fibrillation is a heart rhythm disorder that affects 5 million Americans. Previously many patients often underwent multiple heart procedures to fix their condition, only to find it still persisted.
All this has changed, however, with the development of a breakthrough heart-mapping technology by Stanford cardiologist Sanjiv Narayan, MD, PhD. Called FIRM ablation, this new technology pinpoints where the arrhythmia starts in the heart and guides treatment so definitively that the condition can often be addressed in a single procedure.
