    One thing that I keep seeing in the HTTP vs HTTPS debate is the argument that 'my content is public, I don't need to protect it'. It's not about protecting your content, it's about protecting the user.

    Also, FYI: coming in about a month, we'll be including filtered queries as "(other)" in the API. This makes pagination easier, the numbers clearer, but might be confusing when comparing queries before/after.

    Is your website HTTPS ready? We believe that the web should be easy to use securely by default and have long advocated for adoption of HTTPS encryption. From July 2018 we’ll mark all HTTP sites as “Not Secure” in Chrome. More here:

    On ranking: The mobile-first index doesn't change anything for ranking other than that the mobile content is used. While mobile-friendliness is a ranking factor on mobile, being in the mobile-first index is not.

    On requirements: Neither mobile-friendliness nor a mobile-responsive layout are requirements for mobile-first indexing. Pages without mobile versions still work on mobile, and are usable for indexing. That said, it's about time to move from desktop-only and embrace mobile :)
