Pocket Telephones function as "mobile desk phones," allowing you to place and receive calls while you're away from your desk or station. Pocket telephone base stations (ceiling mounted antennas) provide coverage throughout most of the Hospital/Medical Center complex, so you can be fully mobile.
Ascom (APT), which is available in the Stanford Hospital and Clinics as well as the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, is the type of pocket telephone used at Stanford.
