Graduate students participate in the Archaeology Program through their affiliate departments, from which they will ultimately receive their PhD degree.
The Archaeology Program is not a degree program. Archaeology students are students of their home department and are particularly interested in archaeology.
Core course requirements for archaeology track graduate students:
- In their first year students should take a course in introductory archaeological theory (at present ANTHRO 303).
- Students should fulfill a methods course requirement by taking a primary level methods survey course (the appropriate course at Stanford is ARCHLGY 307).
- Prospective students should apply for admission to the department that best suits their interests, indicating on the application their interest in archaeology. Applicants should also contact Archaeology faculty members with whom they are interested in working.
For more information, contact the Archaeology Center or other affiliated departments.
