Biography

David's research is focused on applying geostatistical, optimization and history matching methods, which have been developed for use in the oil industry, to problems affecting groundwater resource management and allocation. He is currently working on applying these techniques to incorporate different forms of geophysical data in subsurface models of managed aquifer recharge sites, in order to determine the value of the different data. David received his PhD (2013) from Stanford in the cross-disciplinary program "Earth, Energy and Environmental Sciences", where he used and developed methods for optimizing and history matching carbon sequestration problems. Originally from Australia, David has a background in applied mathematics and mathematical optimization. In his spare time, David goes surfing and hiking with his wife Jess, and occasionally finds time to go rock climbing.
