"Too often we are so preoccupied with the destination, we forget the journey."

This anonymous quote perfectly describes one of the reasons the restroom signs in the East Wing points to the lower level instead of the first floor. We need to encourage visitors to savor the journey--not only through Green Library, but also through life. Another reason the signs do not point to the first floor restroom is the first floor restrooms are often more crowded than the ones on the lower level.

There are also two new signs in the Bing Wing. One points to the men's room to the right of the stairs, and the other points to the women's room to the left. These are not getting as much attention as the ones in the East Wing, so I plan to propose a new sign to make the Bing Wing signs more of a conversation piece (see attached image).

There is another "journey" concerning these restroom signs that many people have savored. Many people have contributed mightily to the acquisition of these signs. These directional signs took a most circuitous route to arrive at their final destination. To all the people who ever engaged in a restroom sign conversation, in person, or via email, or phone, thank you!

Now that we have delighted in the meandering journey of the restroom directional signs, please take time to enjoy the destination.
