Bike to work day party: Ariadne Scott, Kristen St.John, Franz Kunst, Eli Boyne, Beth Ryan, Terry Palmer, and Geoff Willard (and his bike)

A team of Stanford University Libraries staff, based in Redwood City, were one of two winning teams for this year's Bike to Work Day drawing sponsored by Stanford Parking and Transportation Services.

Our Bike to Work Day team was named "SUL in RWC" with members: Franz Kunst of Special Collections; Geoff Willard of the Stanford Media Preservation Lab; and Eli Boyne, Beth Ryan, and Kristen St.John of Conservation Services. All five regularly bike to work either for our whole commute or in conjunction with other public transportation like CalTrain. Our combined mileage for the commute into work on Thursday May 15th was 88 miles. Two members, Beth and Franz, even biked all the way from San Francisco to Redwood City that day.

On Tuesday June 16, we celebrated our win with a catered breakfast and bike-related gift bags from Parking and Transportation Services. Breakfast included fresh fruit, breakfast burritos, yogurt parfaits, and coffee and was arranged by Terry Palmer, Wellness Program Coordinator, HealthySteps Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children's Health Health Improvement Program. Ariadne Scott, Bicycle Coordinator for Transportation and Parking Services, brought the gift bags with bike lights, reflectors, and a high visibility arm band. Heartfelt thanks to Terry and Ariadne for acknowledging our efforts.
