Whom does Arbor serve?
Our patient population spans all ages and a wide variety of backgrounds. Most patients lack medical insurance or are underinsured. Approximately one-third of our patients are currently homeless.
Who runs Arbor?
From its founding days to the present time, Arbor has been staffed by Stanford medical, graduate, and undergraduate students. Clinical cases are overseen by an attending physician or resident. Because Arbor operates as a teaching clinic, patients should anticipate being evaluated by multiple individuals.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No. Arbor sees patients on a walk-in basis between 8 AM and 2 PM every Sunday. Doors open at 8 AM. Please arrive early!
How long will it take to be seen by a doctor?
We make every effort to ensure that patients are treated in a timely fashion. However, the wait will be longer than for similar services provided elsewhere, likely 3-4 hours. Patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis and are evaluated by at least one student before seeing a physician.
Are interpreters available?
There are always Spanish and Mandarin interpreters at Arbor. We have an interpreter service that allows us to communicate with patients who speak other languages.
What is the prescription refill policy at Arbor?
We cannot refill medications by phone or email. We can give a 90-day supply of most medications if you come to clinic and are seen by a doctor. We require all patients to establish care with a medical home outside of Arbor.
Does Arbor provide childhood immunizations?
No. But we can help you find a location where immunizations are offered.
Does Arbor provide TB skin tests?
Yes. We will provide a list of locations where you can have the test read 48 to 72 hours later.
Does Arbor provide physicals for work, school, or sports?
Yes. Please bring the required form to clinic.
Does Arbor offer referrals?
Yes. We refer patients to local, low-cost clinics for follow-up of complex medical problems and for continuing care. Arbor cannot pay for services provided by other clinics.
Does Arbor provide follow-up care?
No. Arbor does not have the resources to provide follow-up care. However, staff members are dedicated to helping patients establish ongoing relationships with local health care providers.
