Stanford Summer Community College Premedical Program (SSCCPP)

The Stanford Summer Community College Premedical Program (SSCCPP) targets community college students considered low-income and/or underrepresented in medicine providing exposure to medicine and health through topics in health disparities, leadership challenges in health provision and administration, science success strategies, professional development, clinical exposure, successful preparation for the medical school application process, postsecondary and graduate/professional school financing. This four-week commuter program will target talented and motivated community college students interested in medicine, introducing them to the Stanford School of Medicine network through medical student mentorship, faculty and staff instruction, potential research opportunities, and a variety of lectures, workshops, personal and professional development experiences.

Sponsored in part by the California Wellness Foundation, this project is designed to impact the San Francisco Bay area and its contiguous counties, promoting growth and diversity of the health workforce in the region. The program is funded for summer 2015 and February 29, 2016, and will accept up to 20 participants per cohort.

Stanford Summer Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP)

Stanford Summer HCOP is six-week academically intensive residential program that provides a living and learning community for talented college sophomores and juniors who plan to pursue a career in medicine. Participants must demonstrate that they have experienced educational or academic barriers to pursuing their education, and plan to serve in the Bay Area as Physicians.

Selectees will be awarded a scholarship that covers all program expenses including housing, meals, participation fees and materials.
