Pediatric Psychiatry Consultation Service
The service provides inpatient and outpatient psychiatric consultation and treatment to the general pediatric and pediatric and surgical subspecialty services at Packard Children's Hospital. The service is also responsible for covering the emergency room at Stanford University Medical Center. The service is consulted on a diverse range of clinical questions related to the psychological adjustment of children and families with chronic and complex medical problems. Fellows gain experience in helping physicians and other care providers interact more effectively with their patients, in understanding the health care system and its psychological effects on children and families, and in establishing and maintaining a consultative relationship.
