Dedicated to the Study and Care of the Hand & Upper Limb

The faculty members of the Chase Hand & Upper Limb Center represent two Stanford University School of Medicine departments: the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Surgery.

Our faculty are researchers, teachers, and clinicians.

Our multidisciplinary approach permits comprehensive care of the hand and upper limb, and the combined talents and perspectives of all our faculty members foster the exceptional teaching and research integral to Center's mission. A home for research and the sharing of ideas, the Center hosts conferences and lecture series, holds special educational events, and administers a Hand Surgery Fellowship program.

A Vision Put Into Practice

Dr. Robert A. Chase, Emile Holman Professor of Surgery Emeritus and founder of the Robert A. Chase Hand & Upper Limb Center, has devoted his career to approaching medical and More surgical problems through the efforts of a team.

Hand surgery, in the vision of Dr. Chase, represents a union of three specialties: General Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery.

Our team of faculty physicians honors this philosophy through a collaborative effort dedicated to the study and treatment of problems affecting the hand and upper limb.
