The clinical phase of the Master of Science in PA Studies Program provides extensive clinical exposure as well as the opportunity to participate in diagnostic, therapeutic, and health maintenance interventions.  All this allows for students to pursue a particular area of interest beyond the core clerkships.

The clinical phase exposes students to medical care across the lifespan, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly.  They will be exposed to women’s health, including prenatal and gynecologic care; care of conditions requiring surgical management, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative; and behavioral and mental health conditions.  Supervised clinical care experiences will occur in the outpatient and inpatient settings, the emergency department, and the operating room.  Our clinical curriculum is designed to provide students interested in any of our core areas with up to 8-12 weeks of clinical exposure in that area.  Students also have the opportunity to pursue clinical interests outside of those core areas through 8 weeks of electives.

The majority of rotations are expected to take place within the Stanford University medical community and affiliated sties as well as other select sites in California.
