Energy: Chemical Transformations for Production, Storage, and Use
Overview
Chemical transformations research provides an opportune platform for discovering the entrepreneurial opportunities and challenges of energy supply and consumption. Real world applications and comprehensive analysis of energy production systems with emphasis on technology and economics is discussed.
Through exposure to unbiased inquiry of energy production alternatives you will have the tools needed to move forward and examine the composite of future large energy production systems.
Topics Include
- Solar thermal systems
- Biofuels
- Photovoltaics
- Electrochemical devices (batteries and fuel cells)
- Energy production technologies
Grading
All students participate in a group project [3-4 students working together] which can take the form of a:
- Paper report
- Debate - topics are assigned
- Writing, directing and producing a video dealing with an "energy" topic
A coursework page will be set up for the quarter - all assignments and lectures will be posted.
