Written and spoken styles of modern Chinese. Reading and discussion of authentic writings on cultural topics; newspaper reports, radio, and TV broadcasts and films; online Chinese software and email network to facilitate study.

Notes
- The nine-week Intensive Third-Year Modern Chinese course is equivalent to one year of Third-Year Modern Chinese (CHINLANG 101, 102, and 103 combined).
- Students may choose to enroll in the five-week session at Stanford University only, or enroll in the entire nine-week course. Students interested in participating in the Peking University portion must submit an application, a letter of recommendation, and a personal statement to the Stanford Language Center by April 3, 2015.
