Lung Transplant

Lung transplantation is a highly specialized and generally rare option for treatment for children with end-stage lung disease. Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford is nationally ranked #12 in Pulmonology by U.S. News & World Report and is the highest children's hospital in California. In addition, we are one of 17 hospitals in the U.S. that participate in the International Pediatric Lung Transplant Collaborative (IPLTC).

With one of the best post-operative outcomes for adolescents in the world, our lung transplant team at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford has performed more than 25 pediatric double lung transplants since 1989. Our team works closely with experts from our Pulmonary & Cystic Fibrosis Center. Together, we provide treatment for the full range of chronic diseases that may require lung transplantation, from cystic fibrosis to genetic defects.
