We provide evaluation, treatment and support for babies and children born with injuries to the nerves in their arms and hands.

Obstetrical Brachial Plexus Palsy

The Obstetrical Brachial Plexus Palsy Clinic at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford provides evaluation and both surgical and non-surgical treatment for babies and children who suffer birth injuries to the nerves in their arms and hands.

Newborns and babies are evaluated to determine whether early surgical repair of injured nerves would be beneficial. Older children are evaluated to determine if the after-effects of this injury on the function of the shoulder, arm and hand can be improved by conservative treatment such as splinting, therapy and specific exercises or by reconstructive surgery.

Surgeries are performed in the Ford Family Surgery Center - a state-of-the-art surgical facility designed specifically for children.
