Stem Cell Transplant

Children with cancer, blood disorders, immunodeficiency diseases, and other conditions may benefit from a stem cell transplant, in which healthy stem cells are put into a child after the unhealthy bone marrow has been removed. Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford is a nationally recognized leader in the area of pediatric stem cell transplant and our multidisciplinary team has performed more than 700 transplants since the program was developed over 25 years ago.

Our physicians have extensive experience in stem cell transplant and offer the full range of transplantation options, enabling them to treat over 70 different diseases and offer a donor for nearly every eligible patient. Some of the treatment therapies used for genetic disorders include lower doses of chemotherapy, which can offer improved outcomes for high-risk patients.

The Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant program is certified by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy, which establishes standards for high quality medical and laboratory practice. In addition, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford is nationally ranked in Cancer by U.S. News & World Report.
