A new U.S.-Canada joint initiative will cut methane emissions from oil and gas systems by 40-45 percent below 2012 levels by 2025. The announcement also signals the U.S. administration’s intent to set the first-ever standards to regulate methane from existing oil and gas systems, a necessary step for meeting the country’s emissions-reduction goals.
