Becoming a Resident Fellow

Crothers Resident Fellows, Corinne Thomas and Stephen Stedman, pose with Guest Speakers, John Prendergast and George Clooney, after a 2010 event.

We invite you to seriously consider life as a Resident Fellow or to share this information with other faculty in your area who you believe can make our residences vital, intellectual communities where learning and reflection are a part of everyday life.

Application Process

Appointments to Resident Fellow positions are made by the Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Residential Education and the ResEd Associate Deans working with Resident Fellows. The majority of Resident Fellow placement decisions occur during our main review cycle that begins in mid-August for the following Autumn. We ask that applications be submitted by the first week of August for consideration for the main review cycle. Applications are accepted year-round, however, for consideration for subsequent years or for unexpected openings.

To apply to be considered for a Resident Fellow position, please complete the online: Resident Fellow Application.

Eligibility

To be considered for a Resident Fellow position, you must be employed by the University; for couples applying for consideration for a Resident Fellow position, at least one person must be employed by the University. While high-level administrative staff are eligible to be Resident Fellows, there is a strong preference to place faculty members in RF openings. Faculty currently in the process of seeking tenure are not eligible to be RFs. For more information about the Resident Fellow program and the application process, please contact the Residential Education Central Office at 650-725-2800.
