Activating Your Immune System to Fight Cancer
01.04.2016
Your immune system works to protect your body against foreign invaders, such as bacteria or viruses. Stanford doctors and researchers have discovered your immune system is also able to distinguish healthy cells from cancer cells, and therefore boosting the killing power of immune system cells.
This type of treatment, known as immunotherapy, uses special antibodies that activate your immune system to find cancer cells and kill them or stop their growth. Immunotherapy is effective in treating many cancers, including lung, bladder and skin cancers.
