Open Positions
Mediator - General Panel
We wouldn't be able to offer such a wide range of dispute resolution services without the support of our volunteers. Our volunteer mediators receive ongoing training and mentorship. Once you are on the panel, you will be notified as soon as a mediation is set. We usually pair new meditors with experienced mediators to maintain a quality service and provide learning opportunities. Bilingual applicants and mediators that broaden the panel's diversity are particulary encouraged to apply.
Mountain View Mediator
The Mountain View Mediation Program typically handles disputes between tenants and landlord, neighbors, and consumers and merchants. The Program is sponsored by the City of Mountain View and is accepting applications from volunteers who live, work or own property in Mountain View. Those accepted into the program for an initial two-year appointment will receive mediation training and will participate in program activities including monthly meetings and continuing education. Bilingual applicants and mediators that broaden the panel's diversity are particulary encouraged to apply.
Palo Alto Mediator
The Palo Alto Mediation Program typically handles disputes between tenants and landlord, neighbors, and consumers and merchants. The Program is sponsored by the City of Palo Alto and is accepting applications from volunteers who live, work or own property in Palo Alto or Stanford. Those accepted into the program for an initial two-year appointment will receive mediation training and will participate in program activities including monthly meetings and continuing education. Fair housing tester/surveyor
If you would like to promote fair housing in your community, there are ways to get involved! Project Sentinel is recruiting volunteers to serve as fair housing testers and surveyors.
Fair housing testers help expose discrimination in the housing market by posing as homeseekers.
Fair housing surveyors gather evidence of illegal housing practices by interviewing residents about their housing experience.
To participate, you must be 18 or older, attend an in-person training session, complete a practice test, and pass a criminal background check. Testers and surveyors receive a stipend for each completed assignment. To register for training or for more information, contact mhernandez@housing.org or (408) 749-1856.
Court Mediator
We are recruiting mediators for our Small Claims, Civil Harassment, Elder Abuse, and Unlawwful Detainer (eviction) panels on an ongoing basis. If you are a trained mediator, you are welcome to apply to become a mediator in Santa Clara Superior Court. Please apply here or reach out to Tessa Husemann at thusemann@housing.org with questions.
