Workforce, Education and Training (WET) provides funding to improve the capacity of the mental health workforce. Because of the critical workforce shortages in mental health, the Act provides funds to train, develop, and recruit a diverse workforce including consumers, family members, licensed professionals and others who are qualified to deliver client-driven, recovery-oriented, strengths-based services.

Santa Clara County’s Initial Workforce Education and Training (WET) plan was approved on August 27, 2009. The plan will improve and transform the mental health system by enhancing the skills of the workforce, expanding roles for consumers and family members and increasing cultural and linguistic diversity. The plan consists of $4.1 million in education and training programs annually.

The plan requests that all remaining WET funds ($9,250,800) be disbursed to the County in FY09-10. Below, please find an Executive Summary and the full plan. Please contact Jeannette Ferris, WET Coordinator at 408.792.3911 or Jeannette.Ferris@hhs.sccgov.org if you have questions.
