SFDC Literature Databases
Each of our faculty development programs has a literature database saved as a bibliographic database file, managed by EndNote. The databases include citations for articles and abstracts/annotations where available, books, and other publications that are tightly linked to each program's curricular content. The databases are not intended to serve as comprehensive reviews of the literature, but rather as sources of relevant supplemental readings.
We are offering these databases on our website to anyone interested in the topic areas covered by our programs. Only the Medical Teaching (MT) and SFDC Alumni databases are currently being updated since the other programs have reached the end of their funding. Both PC and Mac users will download an EndNote compressed folder (.enlx) containing an EndNote library database .enl file and acompanying .Data folder. To view and search any of these databases you will need to have a purchased copy of the EndNote program or download the free trial (see below). (EndNote Help).
Lists of searchable categories are available on this website in PDF format. To view PDF files, you will need Adobe's Acrobat Reader http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html (PDF Help)

Downloading the free demo version of EndNote:
- To access each of our program bibliographic databases you will need to download a free demo version of EndNote if you don't already have it.
- Go to the website: http://www.endnote.com/
- Click on download 30-Day Free Trial. You will need to complete the EndNote trial request for Windows or Macintosh. (current version is EndNoteX7). The trial version maybe converted to a full version of the EndNote program with a product key.
Searching EndNote Database Files:
- Double click on the database icon you have selected - Medical Teaching (MT), [End-of-Life Care (ELC), Geriatrics in Primary Care (GiPC), Medical Decision Making (MDM), Professionalism in Contemporary Practice (PCP)] or SFDC Alumni.
- You can then search the databases simply by typing quickly the first few letters of the author's name or pull down the 'Tools' menu on the toolbar and select 'Search Library.'
- A 'Search' dialog box opens, allowing you to search various fields in the database by selecting the field in the pull-down menu at the top left of the dialog box. The default field is usually 'author' or 'any field.'
- Each SFDC program's database has a list of searchable categories (see separate program listings). These are known in EndNote as the 'label' field data.
