This office recommends and promulgates new research policy and oversees implementation and exceptions by consulting with representatives of other central research administration offices, school dean's offices, and other constituents in order to insure that sufficient thought and thorough feedback has been received by all interested parties.  These same representatives are called upon to assist in the dissemination of policy and guidelines to insure that implementation of the policy is consistent and clearly communicated to the broader research community.

The Associate Vice Provost for Research Administration is tasked with overseeing the above process and reporting back to the Vice Provost and Dean of Research.  When necessary, the Committee on Research and the Academic Council are advised or consulted for feedback and/or approval of policy.
