Energy and environment (battery systems; superhydrophobicity and drag reduction; carbon sequestration); multiscale, mesoscale and hybrid simulations (multiphase and reactive transport processes); effective medium theories; perturbation methods, homogenization and upscaling.

My research is focused on reducing the risks of climate change by developing energy supplies with low carbon emissions. Students and post-doctoral fellows in my research group work on carbon dioxide storage, energy systems analysis, and pathways for transitioning to a low-carbon energy system.

I study models for flow in porous media. In particular, I am interested in the class of nonlocal models and stochastic models, which I believe are relevant for simplifying the workflow for reservoir simulation. The fact that these models can also be used in multiple scales makes them an even better candidate for modeling subsurface flow.

Well Testing, Optimisation and Geothermal Reservoir Engineering

My PhD research is about the analysis and development of Reduced-Order Modeling methods (ROM).
Previously, I did analysis and application of TPWL (trajectory piecewise linearization, one type of ROM methods) method in reservoir simulation. I was using mathematical perspective and computational experiments to improve this method.
Lately, there is a shift towards another type of ROM method, POD-DEIM method.

I am interested in the recovery of unconventional hydrocarbon resources and mitigating carbon emissions from fossil fuels via geological sequestration of greenhouse gases. My research group and I examine the physics of flow through porous media at length scales that vary from the pore to the laboratory to the reservoir.

Addressing the Propogation of Seismic Image Uncertainty Through the Reservoir Forecasting Process.

I am studying the connections that exist between physical processes at the surface of the Earth and the resulting statistical distribution of rock properties at the subsurface.

I work on characterizing CO2 capillary heterogeneity and residual trapping through macroscopic percolation simulation.

His current research focuses in the use of machine-learning models for automatic interpretation of temperature profiles in Oil & Gas wells.

I study energy and climate policies in the United States. To be more specific, my focus is currently on natural gas infrastructure and the electricity sector.

My main focus is on prediction of short-term solar irradiation based on statistical learning and computer vision. Improved prediction accuracy is beneficial for both the grid operators to balance the grid, and the utility to bid for short-term market. Other interest include carbon storage and sequestration,energy systems optimization, and greenhouse gas mitigation.
